Omit Specific Months or Date Ranges

Hi,
Long time no post, things have been quiet.
I have a quick question; is it possible to omit specific date ranges from a system?
I realise I could just turn a system off, but I'm a bit concerned that I'd not turn it back on again! Also, it's a bit clunky doing that, it would be neater to do it automatically.
