Inplay stoploss. Horse Racing

Firstly I am aware these are notoriously tricky to operate and will never be 100%. But does anybody have one operating reasonably successfully ? Any hints and tips, such as offset , price to monitor, profit and loss calculation etc ? I just can't seem to get it right. A lot of the time it won't even fire.
