Hi

If I have the above set and the price matches my asked for price prior to the off, will it match ?

Sometimes the price will spike and settle back again so I dont get matched at my limit BSP. I want to take the price pre off on a spike but it doesnt seem to be doing that - always only taking SP

"Limit on close" means that you placed Betfair Start Price that will get matched at Start Price only if Start Price is equal or better than your requested price. This bet cannot be matched at exchange price.

Is there a way I can try and get matched at asking and then take Limit BSP say, 30s out, if not matched ?

No, that is not possible.

You can get matched at BSP, whatever it is, if you turn off option to "Place BSP bets" and keep bet persistence set to "Take SP" only.

and there's no way I can detect if I have a matched bet on a market using a different strategy file ? Otherwise I could only lay at the limit BSP if zero bets were matched in the market already.

You can check if another strategy has bets on same selection by using "Selection conditions->Only if specified strategy has bets" rule. Please see manual for details:
