About licence key

I have a question about the software license.
I have a license key that expires on 07/07/2019, but, I bought a new license key today and received the new serial key along with the message that it has a validity of 31 days ...
My question is: these 31 days begin count down from the moment I use the new serial key or it is already counting down from now on?
My fear is to lose the two days that I still have in the actual serial key
thanks... next month i will buy serial for 3 months and next probably i'll have earned profits to buy a year time serial
