Is there a way for the bot to place a bet on tennnis "Match Odds" markets, with the selection being the player who won or lost the first set?

Bot does not have live scores for tennis, so that is not possible.

I understand, but perhaps there is a way to use the stramers/drifters rule?

I have never used this rule before so I am not very familiar with it.

If a player loses the first set then it is probable that his/her price will have drifted from the original start price

So if I place a bet on "set 1 winner"
And I create a rule so that bot does not place bets until after the above bet has settled.
I could place a bet on the selection that has drifted (if I wanted to bet on the player who had lost the first set)

Yes, rule "Selection conditions->Price change - steamers/drifters" works with all markets. It will bet on any selection whose price changes by set percentage.

Make sure you test it in simulation mode!
